EUsalt Tourism and Cultural Heritage Award
Salt production in Europe is not only an industrial activity — it is deeply rooted in history,
landscapes, traditions and local communities. Across Europe, many salt sites have evolved into vibrant cultural and educational destinations, welcoming visitors, preserving heritage and contributing to regional development.
The EUsalt Tourism and Cultural Heritage Award highlights projects that:
• Open salt production sites to the public in a responsible and engaging way
• Preserve and communicate salt heritage, landscapes and know-how
• Create added social and economic value beyond industrial production
• Strengthen the long-term sustainability and visibility of salt production areas
Through this initiative, EUsalt seeks to showcase how the sector contributes not only to
essential supply chains, but also to cultural identity, environmental awareness and local
prosperity.
