EUsalt supports European campaign addressing musculoskeletal disorders

EUsalt has been accepted as an Official Campaign Partner of the Healthy Workplaces Lighten the Load' campaign 2020-22  run by The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA). The campaign aims to raise awareness of work-related musculoskeletal disorders and the importance of preventing them.

Musculoskeletal disorders or MSDs are impairments of bodily structures such as muscles, bones or joints. These disorders mainly affect the back, neck, shoulders and upper and lower limbs. Physical, psychosocial, organisational and individual factors can contribute to the development of MSDs. Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling loads, using tools, repetitive or forceful movements or prolonged physical effort are some examples of such factors.

MSDs are one of the most serious and widespread illnesses and one of the main causes of sick leave and early retirement in Europe.

Adriana Nosewicz, EUsalt Managing Director said, “The health and well-being of workers is a top priority for the salt producers across Europe. We welcome EU-OSHA’s campaign addressing such a widespread work-related health issue that is affecting all jobs and sectors.

Becoming a partner of this campaign reinforces our commitment to health and safety at the workplace. We will encourage all our members to use the practical tools and other resources developed in the framework of this campaign to tackle and prevent MSDs in their companies.”
